The office of the CIO in the State of Nebraska rely on thousands of Crystal Reports. After an exhaustive review, the IT staff selected Code Search Pro to replace an internal report documentation process with a more robust and modern solution that supported thier planned system upgrades.

We needed a replacement for an outdated process used to produce internal Impact Analysis Statements from Crystal Reports. We use Crystal Reports and for our data source we normally chose to write a custom command to pull the data from the SQL Server. There is only one other program I know of right now that allows us to search these commands, but it forces you to give it a value for any parameters the report may have before it’s able to search that text. Find it EZ works great and for searching Crystal Reports I have found it better and faster than any other product! I just bought two copies.

I probably only use Find it EZ a few times per month, but each time could potentially save hours of hunting and pecking. I have redgate search installed on our server, but that has to be run from within SQL Server Management Studio. I like that I can run Find it EZ from my desktop. Prior to installing your software, we had no way to assess the impact a database schema change would have on our 800+ Crystal Reports published out on our SAP Business Objects server (version 4.1). With your software, I could easily connect to our SAP Business Objects server and simply build a list of all the tables and views I was interested in. In just a few minutes, I had a list of all the reports that referenced these tables plus could see the details of exactly where the table was referenced (selection criteria, SQL Expression, formulae, etc). And the price was very reasonable, the software has already paid for itself!

Today we had a management change for one of our departments and needed to see where the reports were being emailed to. I used the built in report that shows all the scheduled reports and easily filtered it down to the one department of interest. In a couple of minutes, I could reply with a spreadsheet that showed all the scheduled reports for that department and a list of all the email address they were being sent to. This made it simple to update the email distributions since we now had a master list instead of having to click through each report in the CMC and build the master list by hand. What a bonus!
